Organisation: Radioactive Waste Management Limited
Creating a safer future by managing radioactive waste effectively, to protect people and the environment.
Radioactive Waste Management Limited (RWM) is the Government-owned company established to deliver a geological disposal facility (GDF) and provide solutions for the management of radioactive waste. The GDF represents a major multi-million pound national infrastructure programme. RWM, as the developer, will work in partnership with communities that are willing to participate in the siting process.
To achieve the necessary permits, we need to demonstrate the safety of the transport of waste for disposal. As Transport Safety Manager, you will have extensive knowledge and experience of the IAEA transport regulations, modal regulations, CDG, NIA and the IRRs and may even have been involved in the process of revising them.
As a recognised national, if not
international, expert in the transport of radioactive materials, you will be
responsible for assessing waste disposal proposals for the safety of transport
to and disposal of waste in a GDF; and for assessing hazards arising from
radiation, contamination, heat and criticality.
Integrating inputs from a broad spectrum of disciplines, you will work with
global nuclear industry specialists, participating in UK and worldwide expert
working groups and committees to influence national and international standards
Closing date for applications is Friday 17th March 2017
