Competitive Remuneration

 Unrivalled opportunity

Barking and Dagenham has the most untapped potential for growth in the capital, with excellent accessibility. It will be London’s next big growth story, delivering 50,000 new homes and 20,000 new jobs over the next twenty years.

Captured in its vision, Ambition 2020, the Council is committed to exploiting its growth potential and playing its strategic role in London to deliver for its community.  With the drive to become a first choice service provider for its customers, the Council is changing the way it operates in the delivery of its services with the creation of a new vehicle, Barking & Dagenham Trading Partnership Ltd.  This new, Council wholly owned company, will enable Barking and Dagenham to leverage financial benefit and create the investment required for employment and skills development opportunities for local residents.

The scale of our ambition…

…has no limits, but requires sustainable success, creating growth opportunities as well as delivering products and services our customers desire. Building on the Council’s long and proud record of support and partnership in the provision of quality public services, we will continuously improve and revitalise these functions to deliver excellence by providing high quality and competitively priced services, in less traditional, more efficient and innovative ways - responding flexibly to market opportunities.

Leading the scale of our ambition…

As Chair of the Company, you will be tasked with leading the board. This role requires an individual with a respected track record of operating at the highest levels, with an ability to work at the private/public interface. You will be committed to providing direction to the Company, helping us to maximise investment and deliver on key strategic priorities.

Given the scale of our ambition, you will need to be passionate about wanting to make a difference for the Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Moreover, your commitment will be underpinned by a strong value base that puts our community – present and future – at the heart of what we are about.

Closing date for applications is Wednesday 6th September 2017.
