Organisation: CARE (Christian Action Research & Education)
CARE (Christian Action Research
& Education) is a UK-based organisation whose mission is to bring a
uniquely Christian insight to the policies and laws that affect our lives. For more than 35 years, they have taken on campaigns
relating to public policy matters and been a voice
for truth in the public square.
They have a requirement for a Director of Advocacy & Policy reporting to the Chief Executive with a brief to enable CARE to be light and salt in public policy circles, faithfully representing the bible and Jesus in public life and legislation by developing biblical positions on CARE’s key causes and campaigns, and deepening CARE’s influence in legislative bodies around the UK, especially Westminster.
You will develop and defend CARE’s public policy positions, be a faithful witness for the Christian gospel in the UK Parliament and devolved administrations, with the aspiration to affect change to legislation and policy through working with Parliamentarians, advisers, influencers, and officials. Managing the public policy and affairs team, you will maintain CARE’s good reputation and standing across party political boundaries in legislative bodies across the UK, especially Westminster. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will help drive forward an ambitious agenda to develop CARE’s position as a credible thought-leader in UK public life.
With extensive experience of working in and around Parliament(s) and with policy makers and elected members of the UK Parliament, you will have produced public affairs strategies and annual plans, and have a track record of working with and influencing others including Parliamentarians. As a practicing Christian, you will know about contemporary mainstream Christian thinking and appreciate the theological underpinning of CARE’s position on key causes and campaigns.
